I've been a fan of Eugene since her Simang days. Will definitely be watching Kimmy Dora!

I just got home from watching Final Destination and it didn't quite live up to my expectations. Good thing we watched it in 3D which added a bit of excitement. It was more gory than suspenseful and I hate gore. Anyway, today is actually a day of pretty good deals. I was finally able to find a hotel in Boracay that is affordable but doesn't sacrifice convenience and comfort. I haven't booked the room yet though as I still have to contact them to see if transfers can also be arranged by them.

Also, I called up Edsa Shangri-la this afternoon to change my reservation. I had to amend it as I decided that I need to stay a day more. They then offered to give me the extra day free of charge although without breakfast. Yey!!!

By the way, Em-J bought the Microsoft Arc Mouse two weeks back. I was surprised when I found out how much it costs. (SGD 89) I really wouldn't spend that much money on a mouse. Heck, I wouldn't even spend that much money on a pair of jeans. As expected, he grew tired of it, bought a cheaper mouse yesterday and left it for me to use.

Lastly, I finished my two presentations at work today. Whew! At least I no longer have to worry about it next week as I will be very busy.

It's the first day of the month and I know I should be busy but I'm blogging away. I haven't really had the time to update my blog as much as I would've wanted which is a bit sad. This should've been my customary birthday post but since it's already nearly 2 months overdue I'll just turn this entry into one major update.
For my birthday, I started it off quietly by passing by Cheers and buying myself a simple breakfast. Neelam and I then headed to Chevron's for a simple lunch. I decided to hold off any celebration at least until Saturday since Arnold and Clarice will be arriving from Manila.

The following day, Neelam and Geno surprised me with a cake which we all enjoyed at the pantry.

That Saturday, we headed to New York New York for a heavy and hearty lunch! Here is Clarice looking already full even before starting lunch.

Sunday night, Clarice, Arnold, Em-J and I moved to a condo in Admiralty since our flat is going to be renovated. We stayed with Juliet and her very cute daughter, Kalai.

Having Clarice around is the best! We wake up with breakfast on the table. After work, we come home with piping hot dinner ready as well. All we need to do is eat and...swim! Abby and Eco trooped over to Admiralty to join us for our nightly swim. After staying for a week at the condo, we were able to convince Eli to bunk with us since our current flat is unbelievably dusty.

We moved back to our flat after a major general clearning. A few days after, Em-J's parents and Piching stayed with us. One visitor after another is fun. Our flat is never boring.
A few days later, by some sort of coincidence, I saw Choy at the Hub. I didn't know that he's here trying his luck. Hard to explain but seeing a long lost friend from Manila here in Singapore just doesn't happen very often. A week later, he's now staying with us at our homey flat. He then brought us to Newton Circus Hawker Centre. Chilli Crabs, Friend Buns, Cereal Prawns! The best.

The following day, Choy and I met up with another long lost friend...Boss Tin! She treated us out for a very filling lunch at New York New York. Too bad nobody brought along a camera. The only photo that we have is the one I posted in Facebook. Tin and I really didn't get to do much catching up as she needed to rush home.
Choy and I then went to Orchard where I had my haircut. We then made time pass by going to the different "Tutuban" malls the other side of Orchard road. Feeling tired, we stayed at the open air McCafe to have coffee till 6:30pm. Something that I have never done since I've been here. Everything here is just fast paced, you need to be constantly moving so staying for a few hours just having coffee was something that I badly needed but never realized.
I then rushed home to meet up with Eli, Em-J and Arnold to have dinner at Newton...again! The Chilli Crabs and Fried Buns are so good I just can't let Arnold head back to Manila without trying them.

The Great Singapore Sale officially started two weeks ago, a big deal to swipers. Good thing I'm not easily tempted. It gave me an idea, though, to list down my top 5 buys for the past couple of months. I realized that small things matter most and most of my purchases were really not that important. Some of them have been quickly forgotten, tested then discarded. I realize that I now have to think more than twice before making another purchase. Here's the list of purchases that made me most happy and made me feel that I truly got my money's worth:

1. Micro-fiber Gel Pillow
Damage: SGD 30.00 each

One of the best pillows I've ever had. Back in Manila, I used to have the aromatherapy pillows from SleepCare which were very firm. I don't really like the very soft ones. The Gel pillows have a good balance of being not too firm and not too soft. My frequent stiff necks which I suffer from at least every other month haven't plagued me since I've made the switch.

2. Twist and Chop Onion Chopper

Damage: SGD 10.00 (on sale)

Ah...the convenience of just popping onions or garlics into the chopper, twist a little and it's ready. No messy chopping boards and best of all, no smelly fingers!

3. agnes b. voyage bag

Damage: SGD 390.00

Admittedly, I've never been particular with bags, however, when one catches my fancy I'd be bent on getting it. This one is just the right size and I love the material and the color! I don't think the picture does it justice but I can't find any pic online.

4. Seagate 320GB Go
Damage: SGD 150.00

My friend decided on getting a 1TB hard drive which is a pain to use. You have to plug it into a power source before you can use it and it's quite heavy. Good thing I decided on a small and light one which makes backing up my files a breeze...plus I fell in love with the color.

5. Dove go fresh
Damage: around SGD 3.00 each

I just love how it smells...I even have one bar in my bag that I bring along with me wherever I go. I always look forward to my daily showers because of this. Now, if only the spritz is available here.

Facebook is slowly but surely gaining momentum in the Philippines, in fact, most people I know don't even bother to check their Friendster and MySpace accounts. As such, the new Facebook Vanity URLs which was offered by Friendster before is sure to excite the Facebook netizens. I remembered when Gmail was first launched, the first few who received the initial invites to sign up boasted of having their own names as their email addresses. (inday@gmail.com)  I imagine it's gonne be like this with Facebook. Make sure to log-in to Facebook as soon as it's made available on June 13, 12:01AM EST as it is on a first come-first served basis!

In a move worthy of a 24 arc, they announced that Freddie Prinze, Jr. will be joining the show as Davis Cole who wants to be the next Jack Bauer. Hmm...pwede? Alongside him, several other new cast members have already been announced but none illicited as much excitement.

I was really rooting for Betty! :(

Also, taken from Veronica's blog:

I am so excited, I am getting Married to Archie. There is so much to do, so many plans to make. I wonder if Betty wants to be my Maid of Honor? I bet she is so happy for me!

Days leading to my visit to Manila, I was already rearing with excitement. Weird, really. I spent so much time trying to move away and yet here I am excited to go back only after 3 months. I don't know if it's the food I missed, my family, my friends or the malls, all I know is that I was itching to go back...literally. My allergies which started ever since I moved here in Singapore is the primary reason why I booked a flight back home. I wanted to see a specialist as the "rashes" never seemed to heal. Funny thing is after booking the flight, the allergies let up and was nearly healed. Oh well.

I only have a couple of days since I don't know if I can already take a long leave of absence from work. That being the case, I decided to look for a home away from home in the Ortigas area. I will be arriving at around 6am in the morning of Friday and leaving early Sunday morning. All the hotels except for one advised me that I have to book a total of 3 days if I want to check in on a Friday morning since the earliest allowed check-in time is at noon. Edsa Shangri-La offered to give me (without me even asking) the first day free! What's best is that it comes with free breakfast at HEAT and free internet access.

The room that they put me in has a nice bed but it has a musty odor and the furnishings are all old. I settled in but minutes after trying to get some sleep I was already sneezing non-stop.

Here's a phone from the 80's...

I asked for an upgrade and the front desk staff graciously gave me a couple of options and showed me the available rooms all in the Garden Wing. He mentioned that all the rooms in the old wing will be renovated soon. The hallway looked way better and smelled better as well.

I settled for the Chi room which required me to pay extra but I think it's worth it. The towels and the bathrobes are heavenly. I seriously considered taking them with me when I checked out.

Plus...it comes with access to the Horizon lounge with free snacks and drinks the whole day!
